Totes Quotes

“It’s not what you say, it’s the way you say it!” If I had a shiny new, unforgeable pound coin for every time I’d heard that, I’d be a rich, rich man. Trouble is, it’s not exactly accurate is it? Great dialogue transcends both the performance and the film from whence it came and has the ability to infiltrate popular culture and consciousness.

From the endlessly quotable to the words you wish you’d said yourself, every Friday will feature an iconic iteration. So in the words of Reservoir Dogs’ Joe Cabot…”Let’s go to work.”

My first Bond and my favourite Bond. The late Sir Roger Moore taught me how to work my eyebrows long before The Rock ever did. As 007, he was the epitome of suave sophistication and a cold-ass killer to boot, never more so than in The Man with the Golden Gun (1974). Hot on the trail of the nefarious Scaramanga, Bond interrogates the gunsmith who designs weapons for the wealthy and in the case of the rifle he’s holding, a four fingered man.

Lazar: “Mr. Bond, bullets do not kill. It is the finger that pulls the trigger.”

Bond: “Exactly. I am now aiming precisely at your groin. So speak or forever hold your piece.”

Savage.

  1. I’m more of a book quotes person than movie quotes, but… “Kick the tires and light the fires” has popped into my mind a few times lately. And of course “One, two, Freddy’s Coming for You” will always be making its way from my subconscious.
